Technical FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions
Quick, clear answers to the most common questions about our services and Linux infrastructure.
General Questions
Linux is an operating system (like Windows), but open source and free. It runs the majority of servers in the world: Google, Amazon, Netflix, banks — they all use Linux. It is the industry standard for servers because it is more stable, more secure and less expensive than Windows Server.
Three main reasons:
• Cost: No license to pay (Windows Server costs hundreds of dollars per year)
• Security: Linux is much less targeted by viruses and ransomware
• Performance: Linux uses fewer resources — your server runs faster with the same hardware
Yes, Linux is recognized as the most secure system for servers. But no system is secure without proper configuration. That is exactly our job: we harden the system (firewall, SSH, permissions) to make it nearly impenetrable. The audit we offer at $150 identifies all existing vulnerabilities.
No. We work exclusively on the servers (in the background). Employees continue to use Windows, Mac or their web browser normally. They will see no difference in their daily work.
Questions About Our Services
It is a complete examination of your infrastructure: we scan open ports, check the firewall, permissions, passwords, missing updates, and logs. At the end, you receive a detailed report with the vulnerabilities found and our recommendations, classified by risk level (critical, high, moderate, low).
It is a backup that ransomware cannot encrypt or delete. We configure two independent destinations (e.g., Cloud S3 + local disk) with AES-256 encryption. Even if the main server is compromised, the backups remain intact and functional.
Zabbix is an enterprise-level open source monitoring tool. It monitors the server status in real time (CPU, memory, disk, network) and sends automatic alerts in case of a problem: disk almost full, intrusion attempt, stopped service. It is like having a 24/7 security guard for your server.
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates an encrypted tunnel between your employee's computer and your corporate network. This enables secure remote work: your employees access office files as if they were on-site, without risk of interception. Each user has their own security certificate.
Practical Questions
• Audit & Diagnostic: 1 to 2 business days
• Cloud Optimization: 2 to 3 business days
• Complete Infrastructure Package: 3 to 5 business days
• VPN / Zabbix: 1 to 2 business days
Everything is done remotely via secure VPN — no on-site visit required in the majority of cases.
Primarily remotely, via a secure, encrypted VPN access. This is faster and less expensive for the client. We can travel on-site if necessary (hardware installation, network cabling), but 95% of our work is done remotely.
With Priority Support ($150/month), you have access to 2 hours of support per month that accumulate. Zabbix monitoring works 24/7 and sends automatic alerts. For critical emergencies, we intervene as quickly as possible.
Yes. Our recurring services (maintenance, support) have no long-term commitment. You can cancel with reasonable notice. We want to keep our clients because they are satisfied, not because they are locked into a contract.
Pricing Questions
Because we are specialists, not generalists. We do not sell hardware with inflated margins, we do not charge unnecessary travel expenses and we do not have a heavy administrative structure. You pay for direct expertise, without intermediaries.
No, all prices are displayed before taxes. GST (5%) and QST (9.975%) apply in addition, in accordance with Quebec tax laws.
No! Hour banks never expire. You buy 5 hours at $250 and use them whenever you want, for any type of support or project.
